The Hamamatsu Kite Festival
The Hamamatsu Kite Festival was amazing! Neighbourhood teams flying huge kites, trying to wrap the strings around each other and tug until the friction caused their opponent's strings to burn, sending the kite to the ground. Drums pounding, horns blowing, teams chanting....
(Above) The photo that started it all. It was all Aaron's idea. A self-taken photo of the three of us. The rules? You couldn't smile or look at the camera. Let the insanity begin...

I had a great time showing you two Japan! What a laugh! I miss you guys lots!

Laura,
After seeing only half of Aaron's photos and now your's, we can only imagine what a great time the three of you had together. Isn't it wonderful to have such good friends.
Love, Mom and Dad and Christopher
yeah (sob)... the jealousy continues... You do realize that in one week you managed to convert Aaron into a diehard fan of all things Japanese? Well, he was a fan before - now it's more like obsession. You clearly possess superior travel planning skills.
Talk to you soon. If you're up for a skype chat, let me know when.
Fil
I'm with Fil on the jealousy. The extent of my glamourous travel will involve returning to Toronto in about 2 weeks. Fun times. (Seriously though, I am excited to go home and SHOP!)
It looks like you guys had a blast - the self-taken "model" shots were hilarious, and I only wish I could have tagged along. Well, maybe in a year...
Yes, still jealous. But now that I've read through the entire post, I see you've got the cellphone sword pic too (I saw aaron's before). I want one. Seriously. Oh, and I will keep you posted of potential Nov shenanigans (I'll be finding out about employment in the next couple of weeks). And again, any media for you?
Fil
Laura,
Thank you so much for showing us around in Japan and forking up the Yen for the trains. Tiff and I were thinkin' "why is Laura feeding the machine so much money?!?? Is the machine broken?!?" It was definitely a memorable experience!! My self proclaim model faces are classics!!! Of course, I'm, still do them as we speak. It wouldn't be long till Fil gets there and experience JAP first hand. I'll be the jealous one, once he heads over. Can't wait to go back again.
